About Us

We looked and looked and simply could not find a prom dress! Since I have been sewing for years, having made everything from simple A-line skirts to bridal gowns, I decided to create a one-of-a-kind dress for my daughter. It turned out beautifully and several young ladies asked me to make a dress for them next year. Of course I needed a design studio and workshop – and Charisma! was conceived!

In addition to custom design, I offer redesign services. We all have things in our closets that we no longer wear because they are out of style or just don’t fit properly. I can remake almost anything into something you’ll be proud to wear!

One of my favorite projects is a grandmother's 50-year-old wedding gown from which I used the train to create a Christening gown. I turned one family heirloom into something that will surely become the next heirloom for that family!

In 2007, my daughters and I decided to venture into the retail world and we created a great little boutique in downtown Zionsville. We did quite well, for awhile - the economy downtown, combined with my daughters taking off for the west coast, certainly presented challenges! There are many reasons that I decided to close the store, but the biggest one is that I was so absorbed in running the store that I couldn't even find the time to visit my newly relocated daughters -- and my new granddaughter.

Closing the store has allowed me to concentrate on other interests, too. Redesign and repurposing unused/unusable items has always been near and dear to my heart. In addition to working closely with Anita Hopper of ReFind Originals using discarded to leather to create one-of-a-kind purses, headbands and cuffs, I plan to create my own clothing line. I hope you'll bookmark this page and return often to see what new items I have to offer!
